COR is a Christian rock artist with a self-reflective vision that talks about controversial topics about love, religion and spirituality. The latest single “Down for the count” talks about duality of life, expectations and faith.
Our journey began by delving into the core essence of the song to craft it into a visual concept. This involved thorough research, which included exploring various definitions and making a lot of sketches.
We found inspiration and decided to portray a plant called Christ's crown (Euphorbia milii), it has a long stem full of thorns and a delicate beauty in the floral crown – a poignant metaphor for lifes duality.
On one hand, we have the innocence and beauty of the pink flowers and vibrant green leaves, and on the other hand, the stem of thorns that shows the harsh reality
A drop of blood on one of the leaves serves as a bittersweet reminder that the stunning and safe side also hurts.
